Organization
Flat hierarchies, a high degree of autonomy
- The Institute is comprised of three departments and several independent research groups and independent research teams.
- Each department is headed by a director who is autonomous in his research activity and who holds a permanent position at the Institute.
- All three directors are scientific members of the Max Planck Society and collectively make decisions concerning the development of the institute.
- On a rotating basis, one of them assumes the position of managing director for a period of three years.
Close ties to the university
All three directors of the Institute are at the same time professors at the University of Münster Medical School.
