To foster the research activities at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine, the Federal State North Rhine-Westphalia and the Max Planck Society had last year initiated the renovation of lab space in the east wing of the Center for Molecular Biology of Inflammation (ZMBE) of the University. During the next five years, the Max Planck Society and the State North Rhine-Westphalia each invest 7.6 million Euros in the research of the new scientific teams. The renovation was financed with 8.5 million Euros from the economic stimulus package II. In addition, the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster contributed 1.5 million Euros. These efforts result in a sustained appreciation of Münster as a location for science - part of which are not only the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine, but also the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster and the University Clinics.
