In the "Best of Cell Press" series, the publisher celebrates the highest-impact research published in its journals over the previous year. Articles for these reprint collections are selected on the basis of full-text article usage as well as citation data, which the publishes feels are the most unbiased way to gauge interest in specific papers.
In this issue, Velychko et al. (737–753) found that omitting Oct4 from the reprogramming cocktail generates mouse iPSCs with the developmental potential equivalent to that of ESCs, which are considered the gold standard.
