ERC Advanced Grant for Ralf Adams
Can vascular endothelial cells be used therapeutically for bone formation?
Biochemist Ralf Adams, Director at the Max Planck Insittute for Molecular Biomedicine and Professor at the Medical Faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms-University (WWU), receives approximately 2 million euros to investigate vascular endothelial cells in the healthy, aging, diseased and regenerating skeletal system. The aim is to find out whether they can be therapeurically used in a preclinical model for osteoporosis.
An Advanced Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) is seen as recognition of outstanding research work. This is what makes the ERC Grants so coveted. Besides Ralf Adams, also chemist Frank Glorius, Professor at the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the WWU, receives an ERC Advanced Grant. For Ralf Adams, it is the second Advanced Grant.
