MTZ®foundation: 15th anniversary of the MTZ®-MPI Award

Monika and Thomas Zimmermann received a certificate for 15 years of MTZ®-MPI-Award

For the first time in the history of the MTZ®-MPI-Award, there were no suitable candidates in 2023 who met the requirements for receiving the award. Receiving this award is not a matter of course; the absence of a candidate therefore testifies to the high quality of the prize. Nevertheless, there was a celebration in relation to the MTZ®-MPI-Award, because the MTZ®-MPI-Award celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

In order to celebrate the founders of the MTZ® Foundation appropriately for this anniversary, the board of directors had decided to turn the tables this year: instead of the founders, Monika and Thomas Zimmermann, presenting a certificate to the prizewinning young scientists, they themselves received a certificate for their commitment to promoting young talent at our institute for 15 years.
Monika and Thomas Zimmermann received the certificate and other gifts at a ceremony held as part of the board of trustees meeting on November 17, 2023.

The MTZ®-MPI Award ceremony usually takes place after the annual board of trustees meeting. The date will be announced in due course.

Sixteen young scientists have received the MTZ®-MPI Award so far. Twice, two prizewinners had shared the award. The MTZ®foundation supports young scientists with a total of five different prizes, helping young researchers to make the most of their talent. The expertise of high-caliber MTZ® selection committees ensures the high professional quality of the foundation's work over the long term. The MTZ® Awards have become a hallmark in Germany, a significant prize in the CVs of young scientific excellence.
